How to safely operate a pressure vessel?

Aug 06, 2025

1. Pre-operation Preparation
Personnel Qualifications
Operators must be certified and familiar with the vessel's structure, technical specifications, and safety regulations, and master emergency response procedures.
Safety training is required before operation to ensure operational skills and risk awareness.
Equipment Inspection
Inspect the pressure vessel, safety accessories (such as safety valves and pressure gauges), and instrumentation to ensure they are complete, reliable, and within their inspection validity period.
Confirm that the work site is free of flammable and explosive materials and that ventilation is adequate to prevent gas accumulation.
2. Operating Specifications
Smooth Operation
When pressurizing, proceed slowly to avoid sudden pressure increases. Control the heating and cooling rates for high-temperature or low-temperature vessels.
Over-temperature and over-pressure operation are strictly prohibited. Disassembling bolts or modifying the vessel structure while under pressure is prohibited.
Process Control
Strictly monitor parameters such as pressure, temperature, and liquid level to ensure they do not exceed design limits.
Control parameters such as medium composition and flow rate to reduce corrosion risks. Emergency Response
If abnormal pressure or leakage is detected, immediately stop operation and report it.
Emergency equipment such as fire extinguishers and respirators must be available at the work site, and personnel must be proficient in their use.
III. Post-Operation Management
Closing Work
Close the valves and verify their tightness. Clean the work site and equipment.
Record operating data and archive inspection reports.
Maintenance and Inspection
Perform regular equipment maintenance and a comprehensive inspection every three years.
Imperfect conditions require prompt repairs. Operation with defects is prohibited.
IV. Safety and Discipline
Personal protective equipment such as a hard hat, safety glasses, and gloves must be worn during operation.
Smoking, using open flames, and working while fatigued or under the influence of alcohol are strictly prohibited.
Violations will result in warnings, fines, and even criminal prosecution.
